VeriSign earnings double

Reston-based VeriSign Inc., which manages the Internet’s .com registry reported higher earnings and revenue on incraesed domain name registrations and activations.
The company had fourth-quarter revenue of $230.2 million, compared with $203.6 million in the same quarter a year ago. Net income was $105.6 million, or 65 cents per share, compared with $53.8 million, or 34 cents per share.
VeriSign’s full-year 2012 results included $874 million in revenue, up 13 percent from 2011. Net income rose to $320 million, from $143 million.
VeriSign (NASDAQ: VRSN) said it added 1.25 million net new names in the fourth quarter and ended the quarter with 121.1 million active .com and .net domain names, up 6.4 percent from a year ago. The company processed 33.1 million new domain name registrations last year.
