Mazuma Credit Union is moving its corporate headquarters from Kansas City to Overland Park.

The Kansas City credit union will build a new 60,000-square-foot, three-story complex at the Shoppes at Deer Creek Woods in Overland Park, a release from the firm said.

The new headquarters building is scheduled to be completed and ready for business in September 2014. A formal groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the site near the intersection of 135th Street and Metcalf Avenue on July 11.

"We're growing and our current headquarters no longer offers the space and infrastructure we need to expand," Brandon Michaels[6], president and CEO of Mazuma said in a release. "More importantly, we're responding to the demand for services with the dramatic increase of members in Johnson County."

Mazuma's current south Kansas City headquarters at 9300 Troost Avenue will not be demolished. The release said the building will serve as a branch location once the new building is complete.

The new building was designed by Atlanta-based architecture firm Praxis3. General contracting will be handled by Level 5 LLC, an Atlanta-based multidisciplinary firm that specializes in the financial services industry.

The new building will feature a three-story atrium, a coffee bar, fitness center, a 1,700-square-foot community center and a series of "innovation areas."

Andrew Dickhut, a spokesman for Mazuma, said the company will relocate its management, call center, electronic services, trading, and information systems operations to the new headquarters.

The release did not say how much the building will cost, and did not say who will be building the new headquarters.

Mazuma has about $450 million in assets, nine branches and 200 employees. It is one of the top five largest credit unions in Missouri[7].
