Matt Miller[4] has been promoted to western region president of BMO[5] Private Bank.

He replaces Steve Matteucci[6], who has taken a national role with BMO, the eight largest bank in North America by assets.

Miller now oversees about 75 employees in Arizona, Utah and Washington. He is responsible for the development and delivery of wealth management services for high-net-worth individuals, family-owned businesses, endowments and foundations throughout the western U.S.

He was promoted from managing director for BMO’s Private Client Group in Arizona, a role he has had since 2009. Before that, he was a senior wealth advisor at JP Morgan Chase[7].

Before working at Chase, Miller was managing director at Bank of America[8] from 1998 to 2001.

Jay Parry[9], who now is president and CEO of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, worked with Miller at Bank of America.

“He’s a connector of people,” she said. “He’s got a real energy about him and at the same time a calmness that really builds people’s comfort with him and belief in his leadership abilities.”

Over the past five years, Miller said BMO PCG has continued to grow its client base.

BMO Wealth Management, which oversees BMO PCG, showed a 50 percent revenue increase and 81 percent in net income from fiscal 2010 to fiscal 2013.

Miller said the Arizona Private Bank group played a significant role in that growth.

Miller said he intends to grow his workforce by 10 percent this year.

“There is a real demand for top talent in the wealth management business, but we do intend adding to our workforce,” he said.

Some of those positions include financial planners, trust administrators and investment advisors.
