Dave Ramsey, Healthways join forces for financial wellness program

Healthways and Dave Ramsey[4]'s The Lampo Group[5] Inc. will announce a partnership today to incorporate the radio personality's financial counseling into Healthways' existing well-being solutions for employers, health plans and individuals.

More than you may realize, according to Ben Leedle Jr.[6], president and chief executive officer of Franklin-based Healthways' Inc.
The new venture brings together two Middle Tennessee companies and will introduce the new services during the first half of 2014. It is the first time Ramsey has collaborated with another organization to provide his CORE Financial Wellness program.
"On the radio and at events I hear from people all the time who have health issues created by the stress and difficulty of money issues," Ramsey, president and CEO of The Lampo Group, said in an email.
"There is a definite relationship between health and finances," he said, and "it just made sense to join forces to tackle these issues."
Financial stability is a key -- if often ignored -- element in a person's well-being, Leedle said. Healthways has found that people with higher financial stress tend to be more prone to serious health issues and less productive at work, he said.
"Our Healthways team determined we need more compatibility to work against peoples' financial stress," Leedle said Friday. "So when you ask who's out there already doing good work with proven programs and outcomes, you very quickly find yourself looking at Dave Ramsey[7] and his organization."
Healthways serves around 45 million people worldwide, seeking to proactively improve healthy lifestyles and reduce health costs.
